It felt REAL good to get back in the field looking for my favorite critter (BIG VELVET BUCKS)! Even though this one isn’t the biggest guy on the block he was a lot of fun to see and photograph! Even now in early summer when even the most mature bucks are visible during daylight hours, they are still ever so cautious! I had a marginal wind for this spot, but decided it was worth the risk and he hit my scent stream like a brick wall! I still have to get within 50-60 yards for a good close portrait, even when shooting with a 600 mm lens! I’ll be letting this area rest for AWHILE after this stunt!
I’ll be posting new images as I get them but there will be a short break due to a coming move to the Peoria county area!! (bigger and better bucks I hope!)
